Dame Dash, co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records, who was pivotal in shaping the careers of notable artists like Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Cam’ron is also known for his brash and assertive personality. He’s also known for making bold business moves and engaging in creative ventures beyond the music industry.
Dame Dash remains a significant figure in the hip-hop and entertainment world, and recently he was on the Math Hoffa podcast where he spoke about why he’s a vegan.
FIRST, WHAT IS A VEGAN?
A vegan is an individual who follows a lifestyle and dietary choice that excludes the consumption of animal products. This means avoiding not only meat but also dairy, eggs, and other animal-derived ingredients. Vegans adopt this way of living due to ethical, environmental, and health concerns. They prioritize compassion for animals, seeking to minimize harm and exploitation.
Veganism extends beyond diet and encompasses choices in clothing, personal care products, and other aspects of life to ensure no animal cruelty or exploitation is involved. Vegans often embrace plant-based alternatives and adopt a sustainable approach to support a more compassionate and eco-friendly world.
Without further ado, let’s get into Dame Dash explains why he’s vegan.

HOW DAME FEELS ABOUT CHICKEN & MEAT
“I’m not going to eat anything with doodoo on it. Listen, the bottom line is, regardless of what you’re saying, it’s still gonna be doo-doo on chicken. It’s still gonna be the number one cause of cancer, the number one cause of heart disease and diabetes. And it’s right there at your local f***ing bodega in the hood for a reason.”
HOW LONG DAME’S BEEN VEGAN
“Since I watched What the Health [the Netflix documentary, 2017]. That next day, I had a bunch of beef bacon, and I threw all that s*** out. I couldn’t eat doo-doo and pus. I honestly always thought meat was disgusting. Like I could never eat big chicken.”
VEGAN AS A HEALTHIER OPTION
“Everybody eat what you wanna eat, but again, for me, I’m 52, right? And honestly, when I was like 20, I thought 52 meant cooked [sluggish]. So I’m like, yo, I’m having mad fun. I’m still crispy. I’m still, I still feel 25.”
Dame Dash continues, “I just like living. I make investments in my future, especially my body. So if I know something gonna make it where I’m gonna be uncomfortable, like I seen people who have to get they ass wiped, that were f***ing very strong when they were young. I don’t want nobody in my family wiping my ass. Period. So that’s my choice.”
WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE WHO LIVED LONG AND WEREN’T VEGANS?
Dame was asked about people that lived to be 90 to 100 years old, but were not vegan. He responded: “90 years ago the food wasn’t that bad. I’m not arguing with y’all about this s*it. I’m not going to argue with you. You eat what you want to eat. I ain’t going to be mad. I’m just going to tell you what I know.”
And as always we like to close with a saying, quote or adage and today’s is: THE ONLY ANIMALS I EAT ARE CRACKERS.
Now, go forth and change the game!
