It’s been speculated in the past that Jay Z added a fourth verse to Big Pimpin because he felt that UGK members Bun B and Pimp C out did him lyrically.

WHY BUN B HAD A CHIP ON HIS SHOULDER DOING BIG PIMPIN

Before he gives the explanation, Bun B reveals that when he got on Big Pimpin there was a chip on his shoulders. He explains that at that time generally Jay Z’s audience may not have been familiar with UGK so he wanted to go off lyrically to show them that he’s a nice rapper as well.

WHY JAY Z ADDED THE 4TH VERSE

However, as for Jay Z adding a fourth verse to the song, Bun B reveals the truth behind it. He states that the fourth verse was added by Jay Z strictly for publishing reasons.

He goes on to explain and says that unless Jay Z added a fourth verse to the the song that he and Pimp C would own more of the song than Jay Z would. That is because Bun B did the hook and he and Pimp C each did a verse. Whereas Jay Z did only one verse and the hook.

With that said, by Jay Z adding a fourth verse he made the ownership even. UGK no longer owned more of his song than him.

What are your thoughts on Jay Z adding a fourth verse to Big Pimpin? Was it really about publishing and ownership or are you one of the skeptics who believe that he did so because he felt that Texas rappers outdid him lyrically?

And on that note it’s been stated that Pimp C’s 8 bars on Big Pimpin are some of the coldest 8 bars ever rapped on a song. Let us know. Do you agree?
